Israeli Military Claims to Have Killed Hamas Member in Air Strike on Nasser Hospital

On May 13th, the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) jointly announced that they had carried out a targeted killing operation against a senior Hamas member. In an air strike on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Hassan Abdul - Fattah Muhammad Aslih, an important Hamas member, was killed. The Israeli military stated that this person had participated in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, and had long - term engaged in related work by posing as a journalist, planning and carrying out terrorist activities against Israeli military and civilians.

The air strike on the hospital has drawn widespread attention. Earlier on the same day, several Palestinian media reported that the Israeli military's air strike on Nasser Hospital had killed a Palestinian journalist who was receiving treatment in the hospital and injured several others. The Israeli military's statement claimed that Hamas members had established command and control facilities in the Nasser Hospital area in southern Gaza Strip to conduct terrorist activities, which was the reason for their action.

This incident further intensifies the long - standing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The killing of Hamas members by the Israeli military is likely to trigger a new round of tensions and confrontations. The international community may also pay more attention to this incident and call for both sides to exercise restraint and resolve disputes through peaceful negotiations to avoid further casualties and damage.
